Meet Oklahoma's 2006-2007 YLC Representative

Haley Cosner of Roland, OK was selected earlier this summer to represent Oklahoma on the Youth Leadership Council (YLC).

Cosner attended the YLC Conference, July 15-20, in Washington, D.C. The conference agenda included speech presentations skills, grassroots advocacy and the competition for the position of NRECA's National Youth Spokesperson in 2006-2007. Further, Cosner and students from 46 other states attended a Dale Carnegie workshop, and developed legislative skills by taking part in a role-playing game that simulates the first term of a member of Congress.

Cosner's electric co-op experience began in March when she won a trip to Washington, D.C. in Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative's local Youth Tour contest. She was then selected from among the winners across the state to be Oklahoma's state representative and was provided the opportunity to also attend the Leadership Conference.

Cosner will graduate from Roland High School in 2007.
