Get Ready . . . Get Set . . . G.O
What is G.O. “Grassroots Oklahoma?”
Grassroots Oklahoma , or “G.O.” for short, is an effort by the OAEC Government Relations Department to develop a strong advocacy base among rural electric cooperative directors, managers, employees and members. Never before has rural Oklahoma faced such a critical time period politically. Term limits and district reapportionment are affecting staunch supporters of rural issues; Senators and Representatives that we have typically relied upon to carry our concerns will be outnumbered by a more urban legislative base. It’s time for action . . . it’s time to G.O. forward!
Establishing the G.O. Network:
The Grassroots Oklahoma Network is comprised of directors, managers, employees and selected members of all rural electric co-ops in Oklahoma . Each cooperative will have a key contact person that the OAEC staff will call upon to activate the G.O. Network whenever a critical issue or piece of legislation needs to be addressed at either the state or federal level. The OAEC staff will provide detailed information about the issue or bill to the local key contact person, who will in turn fax or e-mail the same information to all members of the G.O. Network in that cooperative’s service area. All members of the G.O. Network will then make calls to designated State Senators and Representatives, or to members of our state Congressional delegation, depending upon the issue.
We can’t G.O. forward without YOUR help!
Get prepared . . . Get ready to work . . . Let’s get G.O.ing!
